Product description

Dad already has everything. Except some peace and quiet.

This Father’s Day, we’re leaving the sock aisle alone and giving Dad something he’ll actually enjoy. Valco’s VMK25.2 noise cancelling headphones keep the world’s noise out and let in exactly the sounds Dad wants to hear. Whether that’s music, podcasts, or absolutely nothing at all.

And because headphones alone would be far too easy a solution, the Father’s Day Special Edition bundle also includes Father’s Day-themed magnetic skins and a black-and-white Valco Pipå. Keeps both his head and his nerves warm.

Same on the outside, new on the inside

The VMK25.2 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 system-on-chip. That means better sound quality, a more stable Bluetooth connection and smarter power use. The battery lasts up to 55 hours on a single charge, so Dad has time to listen to quite a few terrible jokes. Or not listen to them.

USB-C brings the power back quickly, while the thick memory foam cushions keep his ears happy during longer listening sessions. Even if Dad falls asleep on the sofa with the headphones on. Again.

Noise cancelling, transparency mode and our zero-blinking-light policy

Active noise cancellation cuts down background noise, whether it’s an open-plan office, a bus or the general racket of the living room. Music comes through without having to crank the volume all the way up.

Transparency mode is also there for those rare moments when Dad genuinely needs to hear what’s happening around him. For example, when someone announces that dinner is ready.

We still don’t believe in flashing disco LEDs, so the indicator lights are hidden inside the earcups.

Magnetic covers, now with Father’s Day special equipment

The Special Edition skins attach magnetically and can be swapped without tools. The headphones’ original covers are included too, naturally, in case Dad occasionally wants to appear in public a little more understated.

And a beanie thrown in for good measure

The bundle also includes a new black-and-white Valco Pipå. In Finnish November, noise cancelling alone won’t keep Dad’s head protected.

So, in plain English, this bundle includes:

VMK25.2 noise cancelling headphones, Special Edition skins and a Valco Pipå, all in one bundle.

If Dad asks what it cost, say the beanie cost ten cents. That’s technically true.

Note! If Dad already has the VMK25 or VMK25.2, you can also get the skins and beanie without the headphones!

55-hour battery life

55 hours is long enough to fly from Helsinki to Hong Kong, change planes, fly to Australia, hang out with dingos with the headphones on, fly back, and still have battery left for the train home. The battery lasts almost as long as one Chinese factory worker's shift. If you get stranded in the wilderness with your Valcos, you'll die of thirst before your headphones run out of juice. We haven't tested this, but we think it's likely.

Don't take our word for it. Take theirs.

We could tell you how great we are, but that would be a bit suspicious. So we'll let our customers do the talking instead. Reviews are real. Not every product has enough reviews yet, but the ones that do show up first. Photos are taken by customers themselves, and unfortunately it shows.

Sound with a genius behind it

Jasse "Jazmanaut" Kesti has spent decades mastering records and has tuned the 45 mm drivers to reproduce music exactly as it was intended in the studio. If the source material is up to scratch, the VMK25.2 reveals nuances you never knew existed, right down to the bassist's garlic-scented breath. The level of detail is enough to make the competition question its right to exist.

The app of the future, whenever it gets finished

One Christian is building the Valco app alongside his day job, paid in beer. You don't need an app to use the headphones, because we're not idiots. When it eventually gets finished, you can adjust the EQ and listen to relaxing sounds like "Seagulls at the Market Square" and "Children at Daycare on a Sugar High".

Disposable culture is bullshit

We don't make throwaway rubbish. If you manage to sit on your headphones, Hannes and Toni in Kajaani will still repair them years from now for a nominal fee. You're buying a long-term relationship, not hazardous waste.

Finnish functional art

The look is the work of Lauri Lumpee. The adjustment range is enough for a CEO's enormous head, and for normal ones too.

What the hell are noise cancelling headphones?

In the video below, Jasse "Jazmanaut" Kesti breaks down what active noise cancellation is all about.

Note: The video features the older VMK25 headphones, which have slightly less effective noise cancellation than the newer VMK25.2 model.

Great products without the dead weight*

Did you know that almost all the electronics inside headphones come from a handful of giants?

Everything else is just smoke and sales talk.

A small maker like Valco can use the exact same top-tier components as the famous mega-corporations stick in their pricier models.

We just don't have a thousand employees to feed, a Manhattan skyscraper to pay for, or a CEO with a private jet (yet).

Which is why we can give you the best bang-for-buck on the market.

And what happens after you've bought? Our customer service and Valco's in-house repair team make sure our products last. And if you fancy a change, you can trade your old Valcos back in to us. Try doing that anywhere else.

At the end of the day, the point of all this is simple. We sell headphones to fund our own Death Star, so we can rule the galaxy.

FAQ

More answers to all sorts of questions over here.

Was this made in collaboration with dads?

Yes. This package was also designed over many evenings in the sauna at Valco's office. On October 22 at 9:00, after several Moomin sodas, we finally had the package designed. Here it is. From now on, every dad will be using these!

What's the difference between these and the regular VMK25.2?

The looks. The tech is the same: hybrid ANC, 45 mm drivers and 55 hours of battery life with ANC on. Sadly, the skins don't add a single decibel to the sound.

What does pre-order mean?

It means we make the designs based on the orders. We collect orders until a set date, then make exactly as many as were ordered. You pay when you place the order. Everyone who orders during the pre-order period will get theirs. We'll make sure of it.
