Nordell Max is a big speaker for those who like to listen at ear-splitting volume
If the MK3 is the hard-working little laborer of travel speakers, then Nordell Max is its bigger sibling. This isn’t about cute and handy sound, but about making the walls shake and your neighbor start googling how to file a change of address.
The Valco Nordell Max is built tougher and is suitable for use anywhere. This isn't meant for berry pickers, nor is it some lightweight tub of vegetable fat ice cream; it’s a heavy, roughly 1.9-kilogram hunk of gear that stays put even if you were to dance the lambada on top of it. Doing so is, however, not recommended.
Withstands splashes and the emotional pain caused by its user
Nordell Max keeps going outdoors, indoors, in the sauna lobby, and in that spot in the bathroom where the floor is always wet for reasons no one can explain. This speaker isn’t meant for deep dives, but it won’t take it personally if someone splashes a bit of sauna drink on it.
The buttons are so easy to use that you could operate this even with thick mittens on, or if you’re at a stage in life where finger dexterity isn’t exactly your strong suit. Bluetooth 5.3 works steadily up to about 18 meters in good conditions, and less so when the universe feels like it.
This thing has such a big battery you could charge other stuff with it. Or at least try. Valco takes no responsibility if someone tries to use this as a power source for a dead hard drive or attempts to start an old diesel Merc on a frosty morning.
Nordell Max plays for up to 12 hours on a single charge, as long as the LED lights are off and you keep the volume at a sensible level. If you blast it at full tilt and love the colored lights, the battery will of course run out faster. You’ll get the longest playtime by keeping the volume reasonable and turning off the lights.
If you want stereo sound, get two Maxes and pair them together. When the orange lights blink, the devices shake hands virtually, and after that the racket is twice as big and your neighbors’ smiles are half as wide.
If you want smaller and handier sound, buy the Micro.
If you want to win at noise and at life, go for the Max—preferably two.

What does it sound like?
In the attached video, Jasse "Jazmanaut" Kesti records the sound and stereo image of the Nordell with a binaural (I don't know what that means) microphone.
Watch this if you're wondering whether you should rather buy the bass bucket from [Big American Corporation] or [Korean Conglomerate].
